The Course

What can I expect from the course?

The longer ride events are flat and undulating and take place on sealed roads. The courses offer scenic routes amongst local orchards and dairy farms, country townships, the occasional Goulburn River crossing and views of Waranga Basin.

The 44km Cross Country Bike Ride follows minor roads, bike paths and formed bush tracks through the Goulburn River and its surrounds. Riders should be aware of uneven surfaces, puddles, rocks, falling branches and steep banks. This course is not recommended for children or thin-wheeled bikes.

The 25km route is flat with long, straight sections. The course traverses one dirt road and is better suited to mountain bikes. This course is suitable for families.

Is it a race?

The Tatura 200 is a ride, not a race! No timing will be carried out.

Are there drink stations throughout the course?

In addition to the Start/Finish Site there is four drink stations located at Pine Lodge, Mooroopna, Murchison and Rushworth. A fifth drink stop will be added at Waranga in the event of higher temperatures. All drink stops have water, cold drinks, snacks and a first aid kit. Some drink stops have toilets.

Are there road closures throughout the course?

The Tatura 200 Charity Bike Ride & Walk does not include closed road courses. The 44km Cross Country Bike Ride takes place predominantly off road, however a small section of the ride occurs on shared roads.

Follow Police, marshalling and traffic management instructions at all times. Please obey road safety rules and event signage to ensure a safe ride.

How safe is the course?

Participant safety is very important to us. Please follow Police, marshalling and traffic management instructions at all times. Obey road safety rules and event signage to ensure a safe ride. Lead and tail cars, First Aid, traffic marshals and volunteers are on hand to assist you throughout the course of the rides or walks.

What if I can’t continue during the ride?

Over 50 volunteers will be working along the various routes and at the Start/Finish Site, along with First Aid officers. They are on hand to provide assistance in the event of a breakdown, injury or illness. We do recommend that you have your bike serviced prior to the ride. All riders must carry spare tubes and a pump and know how to repair a puncture.

In the event you cannot complete the ride we will ensure you and your bike are delivered back to the Start/Finish Site.

Will the event be called off in the case of inclement weather?

The event will go ahead rain, hail or shine and regardless of the weather forecast as long as it is safe to do so.
